Going to court and giving evidence can bring up strong
feelings and emotions.

The effects of the crime may produce many different feelings in you, your family and friends.

It is natural to feel a range of emotions at various times after the crime and during the court proceedings.

If you need help to cope with the effects of the crime or want further information or support you can access one of the support services listed in the additional support services section of this website.

The OPP’s Witness Assistance Service (WAS) can give you information and support throughout the process. WAS is a free, specialist service staffed by qualified professionals who are experienced in supporting witnesses and victims of crime. For further information, see the WAS page.
